Today, a good lean manufacturing principle that businesses can implement these days is the 5 s system. In fact, a large percentage of manufacturing businesses are actually using the 5 S. Moreover, there are also a lot of non-manufacturing businesses like retail stores and even hospitals that actually employ the discipline.
The 5 S system is the most common system lean manufacturing methodology and this is generally the first principle that is applied during the implementation phase when starting a business. This system is also a form of workplace organization as well as a housekeeping system. When a business will be able to apply this correctly then there would be great benefits that the business can get in terms of quality, productivity as well as morale.
The phases of this system are composed of 5 items which will include sort, set in place, shine, standardize and sustain. To sort means that you are going to remove all the unnecessary items from your workplace. A method used in this phase is the ‘red tag method’ where you tag items that are unnecessary and remove this from the area. On the other hand, to set in place means that you move work related items into the correct position. You may also add a guide that can help you identify specific locations like Floor tape markings. The next phase is shine and this will include deep cleaning the workplace to put it back in good condition. After this, standardization follows which is actually a crucial stage because this is the time wherein the business is going to integrate the principles. Sustaining the system is the last step wherein the system is already incorporated. This is also the phase wherein commitment and self discipline can be measured. This is typically done through conducting audits.
Though its critics have argued that the drug should be removed from the world market no one has yet to come up with the drug that would replace Actos .This is due to how the drug works to help the diabetic persons deal with their issues especially insulin tolerance.
