Several of the participants who were working for the video project had extensive experience in television and video production. The agency that interviewed the participants was part of the “video production washington dc” Company. The working group decided that the purpose of the video courses would be to enable creation of video production teams directly from the universities. The production team would have training under the model that most television newsrooms work with.
The courses brought together staffs with different competencies, teachers and technicians, for they naturally would have to practice working together for a successful video production. The pilot study had shown that even in universities where there was knowledge in video production, it was often difficult to bring teachers and course coordinators together. For some, it was a resource issue as most of the video production project were self-funded. It was also reasonable to assume that a causal to teachers’ lack of commitment may be due to fact that they do not have sufficient knowledge.
