Cost of Coin Collecting Supplies
Coin collecting has been called the hobby of Kings suited for the great and mighty a noble art which will also bring great wealth as the coins appreciate in value.
A great friend found a roman coin; a coin which would be at least 1500 years old and was so taken by this description of the hobby that he decided that he would become a coin collector.
As is his way he decided not to do any further research and decided instead to go and buy all the coin collecting supplies he thought he would need. As this hobby is regarded as fit for kings he also found that some of these coin collecting supplies were of considerable cost.
After setting himself up he realised that he should get his very precious roman Coin valued and set out to do so from the many books and resources he had at his disposal now.
After some time he had to go to a more experienced agent to confirm his worse fears, the coin had little to no value; it seems that age alone will not make a coin valuable. He also discovered that it is not a simple matter of finding a coin and keeping it, there are a number of laws applicable to “found treasure” probably not going to be an issue in this case.
Like all hobbies you should first find out a little about it and have a general interest before you go jumping in and start collecting. It is an unfortunate fact that many fakes and counterfeit coins are on the market as it is very easy to copy these coins and pass them of as original. Buying on auction sites could be a very dangerous game if you do not understand what you are doing.
In this instance the cost of the coin collecting supplies has committed my friend to finding out more and he has in fact started to develop some knowledge as well as an interest.
